An API management platform built on Scalar

DDD internal build · May 8, 2026 · Backend, Developer tooling

Good API documentation is usually an afterthought, bolted on and immediately out of date. We wanted the opposite: a platform where hosting, documenting, and maintaining a whole catalog of APIs is the easy path, not the chore.

The challenge

Teams accumulate APIs faster than they can document them. The reference drifts from reality, onboarding slows down, and every integration starts with a confused Slack thread. The hard part is rarely the rendering of docs. It is the backend: managing projects, versions, and access cleanly over time.

What we built

We built the full backend behind a Scalar powered API management platform. Scalar provides a clean, modern reference layer, and our backend handles everything around it: admins can host API projects, organize them, and keep them maintained as they evolve. It is the infrastructure that turns scattered API definitions into a catalog a team can actually rely on.

How we built it

This is exactly the kind of custom backend we build for clients: production grade APIs, a sensible data model, and the access and lifecycle management that real teams need. We built it agentically, the same method we bring to client work, so the heavy lifting landed fast.

The result

The platform is a concrete example of the backends and integrations we deliver. When a client needs internal infrastructure that has to be hosted, documented, and maintained over the long run, this is the kind of system we build, and we run one ourselves.
